Your data centre's connectivity
shouldn't be your weakest link.

Carrier-managed circuits cap your bandwidth, lock you into contracts, and put your uptime in someone else's hands. SICOM gives data centre operators full ownership of their fibre infrastructure — from high-density interconnects to multi-site backbone rings.

Monitoring & Support

Bandwidth demands grow.
Carrier contracts don't flex.

Data centre operators face a unique set of connectivity pressures. Tenant demands are unpredictable, cross-connect costs erode margins, and every carrier dependency is a single point of failure you can't control.

Bandwidth demands outpace contracts — tenants need more capacity faster than carriers can provision it
Carrier dependency creates risk — your uptime SLA is only as strong as your weakest provider
Cross-connect costs compound — every new tenant connection adds recurring monthly charges
Capacity planning is uncertain — you can't predict which racks will need 100G next quarter

Infrastructure built for
five-nines environments.

Every service is designed around the realities of live data centre operations — where downtime isn't an inconvenience, it's a contractual breach.

High-Density Interconnects

Multi-fibre trunk cabling and patch panel infrastructure designed for high port-count environments. We plan for the density you need today and the capacity you'll need in three years.

Cross-Connects & Backbone

Carrier-neutral cross-connect infrastructure and multi-site backbone rings that eliminate per-circuit recurring costs and give you full control over capacity allocation between facilities.

Fibre-to-the-Rack

Structured fibre cabling from your meet-me room to every rack position, with pre-terminated solutions for rapid tenant onboarding. Designed around your hot and cold aisle layout.

Ongoing Monitoring

Proactive OTDR testing, splice loss monitoring and 24/7 fault response. We detect degradation before it becomes an outage — so your tenants never know there was a problem.

Multi-site data centre dark fibre backbone installation
Case Study — Multi-Site Data Centre Operator

Redundant dark fibre backbone replacing carrier-managed circuits across three facilities

A regional data centre operator was spending over six figures annually on carrier-managed circuits between three South West facilities. Bandwidth upgrades required lengthy contract renegotiations, and a single carrier outage had caused a four-hour service disruption affecting multiple tenants. SICOM designed and installed a redundant dark fibre ring connecting all three sites, giving the operator complete control over capacity allocation, eliminating monthly circuit costs, and providing a physical asset they own outright. The installation was completed in scheduled maintenance windows with zero impact on live tenant services.

"We'd been locked into carrier contracts for years, paying more every renewal for the same bandwidth. SICOM showed us a different model entirely. The dark fibre ring they installed between our three facilities paid for itself within 18 months — and we haven't had a single connectivity-related SLA breach since. Their team worked around our live environment without our tenants even noticing."

We understand what's at stake
in a live environment.

Most fibre contractors install cable. We design data centre connectivity infrastructure — understanding the difference between a cable run and a production-grade fibre backbone that tenants depend on.

Zero-downtime methodology — all work planned around your maintenance windows and live traffic
In-house installation team — no sub-contractors in your secure facility, one team accountable
Carrier-neutral design — we don't sell circuits, so we recommend what's best for your operation
WiredScore accredited — we help data centres achieve the connectivity certification tenants look for

Questions operators
always ask.

Every data centre installation follows our zero-downtime methodology. We work with your operations team to schedule all work within agreed maintenance windows. Cable routes are planned to avoid live infrastructure, and all fibre blowing, splicing and testing happens without any impact on existing services. Our team carries full DBS checks and complies with your facility's security and access protocols — we've worked in enough data centres to know that trust is non-negotiable.
We design for the highest density environments in the market. Our structured cabling solutions support 288-fibre trunk cables, high-density patch panels with up to 144 ports per rack unit, and pre-terminated MTP/MPO solutions for rapid deployment. Whether you're running 10G, 40G or 100G per port, we design the physical layer to match your current requirements and provide a clear upgrade path as demand grows. We'll also model your anticipated growth so the infrastructure scales without re-cabling.
All our multi-site backbone designs use physically diverse routes — meaning the primary and secondary fibre paths follow completely separate cable routes with no shared ducting, manholes or points of failure. For critical infrastructure we specify a ring topology, so traffic can route in either direction if a single fibre path is cut. We also incorporate OTDR monitoring at key splice points so we can detect degradation or physical interference before it causes a service-affecting fault.
Yes. We design and install carrier-neutral meet-me room infrastructure that allows your tenants to connect to any carrier present in the facility — without per-circuit cross-connect charges eating into your margins. This includes structured patching between carrier cages and tenant racks, fibre management systems, and documentation that makes it simple for your NOC team to provision new connections. We've worked alongside every major UK carrier and understand their handover requirements.
